Communication and reputation are key to getting deals accepted. 9 out of 10 deals use agents according to title company records, and FSBO/off market deals without agents involved are actually where the majority of litigation occurs, because they're often a complete mess, so I think anyone saying agents aren't needed is living in Lala land personally.
