Can someone give me some pointers as to what are the steps I should take to make these transactions go smoothly?

I know this because I would worry about the tools when I first got started, wanting the process all to be nice and smooth, but in reality I didn't know enough about what I would be using the tool For to make any sense out of what I needed it to do, and so ended up never really using anything until a year in or so.
