From my limited experience and from others that I've talked to, the NE seems to offer some of the best returns as the houses are a little cheaper, they often have suites already in place (and if built before 1972 might be grandfathered) or designed to make a suite easy to put in.

I'm planning on forming a building and design company and am contemplating on which direction to go in for name of company and branding. 

If it is well designed and looks professional it will probably work.

Schluder is the best waterproofing option in any situation, but its expensive and its designed to work as a complete system( floor to ceiling wall to wall).
