A lot of time, it's based on the fact that they knew you since you were a kid, and don't see you as the adult that you are.

I have three kids, am married, and will be going back to school (as well as working full time) in September.

LOL Kidding of course.

I am a broke college kid and I did some homework on how to have my apartment pay for me and itself through multifamily duplex.

The first is to owner occupy with my wife and kids, or "house hack", using an FHA loan for a duplex, or maybe a quadraplex if I can work the right deal.  

I need to refinance to get my ex off of the mortgage and I am trying to save the house for the kids. 

Unfortunately the laws cater to the least likely scenario trying to protect those that may have lost their job and have kids that will starve or freeze if you kick them out and this allows a-holes like this dude to take complete advantage of you and the system.

Then I had this sad realization - If I keep my 9 to 5 office job until I retire, never again will I have 3 months to just to whatever the heck I wanted like I did as a kid.
