In the mean time, I removed the LP heater and the leased LP tanks, so there is no more gas used in the place (so the CO part of the alarm shouldn't be an issue) and installed a mini-split heat pump in its place.I hadn't heard anything from the tenant but, when they moved out last week, I saw that they had again disconnected the alarm in the bedroom.

As I've learned more about the markets I'm interested in, the first issue I found was that my ideal market (Charlotte) is super expensive, no multi family are available (apparently they weren't easy to build until recently bc of the city?)

Law: Illinois has a law that requires (I believe) the insurance company to give a 'General and Special Taxes & Demolition Expenses' Form (Important info for this issue) to the city when claims/damages are over a certain dollar value.

At the very most, you will get a “demand” letter from an attorney if something is brewing and your attorney can remove the lien and take appropriate action.That should temporarily protect your interest, then you work on resolving the issue.
