Jason, we do everything (or almost) in marketing: direct mail, social media, seo, craigslist, bandit signs, networking...

The Japanese were buying up American property back in the 80's and Canadians were there before that. 

@Eric Hathway, I'll second the social services suggestion.

For example, a foreigner can buy property here in a registered Canadian corporation or an international student registered as a permanent resident, at say UBC (where there are thousands of them), can purchase property without paying the tax as well.

I am a french canadian who took the courage to make a big change in my life in moving from Quebec City to Gilbert Arizona with my wife and my 3 sons.

We willingly let go of much of our social lives in order to build this foundation.Along with social life is the toll this can have on your health.

Go to every single social event you can..parties, happy hours etc.

I have a large social network and know lots of folks in the community (pretty much anyone with a school aged kid).  

Be sure to tie your personal social media pages with your business pages. 

You generate leads by marketing your business just like you would any other business(networking, mail, social media, online, etc etc etc).
