Getting in a bidding war based on emotional desire is a losing proposition.

They are suppose to put their feelings and emotions aside, but we all know there are judges that don't. 

However he many not be aware of the cost.I like to think of myself as someone who takes my "emotions" out of buy/sell decisions but if I were in his shoes I think I would not even respond to the offer.Maybe you can look up the prior purchase price to try and get an idea where the seller is with it?
