If you meant 2% APR, well that's certainly not "helping your parents", so I'm going to assume that's not what you meant. 

I would advise against removing any asbestos and K/T wiring yourself.

They should be dotting the i's and crossing the t's if they are raising for a syndication.Finally, recognize that inexperience can be a warning, but also an opportunity.

This meant we had to move very quickly to finalize investor and loan agreements, receive wire transfers of equity contributions, and provide the bank with necessary documents from vendors and consultants who would assist in the build.

I didn't understand what people meant before, but now that Im looking into it...its painful.

They seemed to be a good deal, not require much work, etc. but did the math and realized that 2 duplexes meant two insurance payments, 2 sets of taxes, etc... didn’t make the financial cut.
