I've done this 5 times in Colorado Springs.

So then the question just becomes, can I get a better return on that equity elsewhere, if so... it might make sense to sell. and really anywhere in Colorado will still be a strong appreciation market, so I wouldn't worry too much about losing that.

It looks like you live in Colorado and are acquiring property in Ohio.

We converted a 3 car garage into a 2 bed 1 bath cottage in Colorado Springs. 

We bought a 8 unit in Grapevine Tx and learned about out of state investing the hard way, we then sold it 18 months later to bring our capital back to Colorado.  

Would love to know the answer to this myself to see if it would possibly apply in Colorado as well.
