Just because you don't pay your taxes this year, doesn't mean you don't owe next year or the next or the next.Remember too I think over 65 can ask to defer taxes forever, but that also means at some point, let's say the family inherits...then they will have to pay all the back taxes and interest and I think penalties as well.....or they just decide it is not worth it and let them go to tax foreclosure.
