You have a legally enforceable contract with the seller to sell you the house before a specific time at a specific price.

I don't see a problem with that, but I would HIGHLY recommend you speak with an attorney in your state as they will know the local laws and rules in regards to your legal question.

One idea was doing a partnership with a legal name and then that name would be on all the documents and the tenant wouldn't know who the owner was.

I had an agent who I sent an offer into for a short sale, and the agent NEVER presented my offer even though he has a legal obligation to do so.
