I'd never do a holding deposit until I was approved for rental with application filled out and ran,Process is usually pay the app fee.. it's ran in 24 to 48 hours,, you then pay the holding deposit that secures unit until move in and sign the lease that same day.. rent is due the day you move in.. the holding deposit becomes the security deposit once the rent is paid and you get keys..
