I'm also from CA but down on the Central Coast, although I spent a good 10+ years in SF proper, Walnut Creek, etc.I primarily invest in Detroit and have been since 2019 (12-doors there now).

I don't plan on buying anytime really soon but I'd love to start connecting with more seasoned investors and local professionals within the area.

Although Farmers Branch is one of those areas like Carrollton that seems to have some of the worst dirt in the DFW area that can lead to foundation issues.   

I'd like to purchase a 2, 3, or 4-plex and live in one of the units and rent out the others as my best way to get into this crazy bay area market.

You're looking in your market to make sure you can find properties to wholesale, and don't want to do the big announcement blast to investors until you have those properties...Here's what I'd suggest: find the investors first, and make them happy by providing actual good investments.Here's the thing: investors will always be there.

I'd suggest increasing rent to market at the next available opportunity in your lease.
