Lots of other career choices that let you establish a base.

I've flipped houses my entire working career and have made a very nice income.You stated that you just wholesaled a property last week - how is that any different then flipping - it's buying low and selling high, maybe its a matter of symatics or maybe your a closet flipper and just don't want to admit it!

Hi all,I'm new to the forum and would really appreciate some advice on my current situation.I'm an engineer in the Pasadena, CA area with a great (non-RE) career which is pretty safe, but just covers my family's expenses - including our townhome.My father recently passed away and I obtained a luxury home in Gualala, CA (little equity, huge payment), a lot leased to roofers in Torrance, CA, which I'm kicking out because of non-payment (~500K equity, low payment), and several pieces of San Bernadino desert property (mostly paid off).I have the Gualala house up for sale and will hopefully get a little over what's left on the mortgage, if not, I plan on leasing it in 6 months.I have one desert property in a developed area up for sale.

It's a good career combination to understand structures and the bad things that can happen to them.

I've moved three times in my career because of job opportunities.

What I do is not feasible for the average investor with another career path.If you look at my properties, they still come as close as possible to meeting the rule for our clients.

Real Estate is my passion, not my career so I don't focus on the money that can be made I just humble myself and find a way to solve problems for the uneducated people who has no solution for themselves.

And contentment is rarely conducive to change.Starting a wholesaling career in Detroit, on the other hand, right now?
