I've had some situations that are similar in nature and the Underwriter was always extremely helpful in making sure the policy didn't cancel due to repairs as long as the insured agreed to the repairs done within the extention time.

I assume in the absence of HOA, you are basically left working out a deal with your neighbors if a common area is in need of maintenance or repair (roof, common walls, deck, porch, fences, driveway, etc.).

You can take the 240 volt feed going to your stove and convert it to two 120 volt outlets using a common neutral, which in older homes can very helpful in small breaker boxes.
