We are taking out the carpet now so hoping we can breathe after that and paint, etc. 

Bringing your electrician back to run new wires to new switches in a freshly painted, freshly carpeted, freshly cleaned home with beautiful, glossy, newly refinished hardwoods is less than ideal.

The upstairs is carpeted for the most part, so I don't think the footsteps have the same affect.

I just pulled a carpet and laid a floor in my daughters room yesterday, legs and back are sore as heck today. 

It was just renovated with new carpet and paint.

Financial woes came and the project came to a screeching halt.I had to quickly move on to a couple of different “carpet & paint” projects for cash flow which seems to be a primary concern given your career.After weighing the pros and cons, if you decide to go this route, know that time and experiential knowledge to GC this project is critical in controlling costs.
