Real estate law is a big game and there is not a lot out there for small players (if you're not buying $5million in RE annually or syndicating)...I personally use lawyers to structure complicated deals I can't figure out, to provide a letter of intent, draft contracts, and close deals.I found a 40-yr RE lawyer who drafts a note/mortgage for $250...worth his weight in gold....I would caution going with a lawyer that does not own investment property or work exclusively in RE.Best of luck! 

That decade is long gone, and so is sitting on ones duff expecting others to do everything and just drop bags of gold on ones lap.

You want more than the name of the note holder and title information.Go to the courthouse, it's a gold mine of information, you can get copies of the mortgages or notes and deeds of trust.

There is no other time in your life where you are around so many and it is seriously a gold mine to expand your social circle/sphere of influence.

Then, the Economic Crash and this Recession that found a bottom and now the run back up with property values to at or above where they were when everything went parabolic, so, I am using that to Sell now and wait for the next downturn to Buy as "he who has the Gold will be King."

I find there's always a gold nuggets of information in each one and I go back to listen to a number of them multiple times.
