You could also look into small "vendor only" type trade shows.

I am brainstorming for an upcoming local business trade show hosted by our chamber of commerce that brings through about 5,000 attendees.I'd like to have a promotional item to give away for our brokerage with a relevant and/or unique appeal - something with a long "shelf life" and not disposable.What promotional items have you have good success / response with?

Yeah I agree that the business card is just one small part of my overall networking, but I have seen one too many local investors hand out business cards that look like they were printed in their living room on a $25 printer...

It almost sounds like you attended a guru course and now want someone to look over the handouts they gave you.
