On a separate line I calculate the subfloor prep-Carpet pad, moisture barrier, tile mortar, etc.With tile mortar-the back of the package should tell you how much surface area it will cover depending on the tooth width your trowel has.

When we visit our out of state properties once every year or so, if it's in the fall, we plan on seeding and distributing that moisture control stuff on top where needed, then watering ourselves each day we're there and hope for rain after.

Alternately, if you have something solid behind it like a stud behind the drywall, you could predrill a couple holes and use a cabinet screw (exterior grade, we use GRK from Home Depot) to gently pull it back against the wall.

Presently we have lots of sensors (moisture, motion, light, sound, etc) that can be used to provide input to control the HVAC system, lights, appliances, alert us when there is water in catch pan under the laundry or water heater, etc.
