It monitors anomalies in water usage, pressure, flow rate, and temperature.

I checked the temperature of the pool water and on the surface it’s 62 F, the national center of cold water safety says that we need to be careful with any water temperature below 70 F.

Depending on the expected temperatures in your area I'd look at doing the same thing until you have the HVAC situation handled. 

Changing batteries depends on use and I think a little on temperature.
