(Thinking I’ll have a huge advantage knowing the area inside & out, and having connections in the area for agents, a good prop manager & family contractor)2) Find a small multifamily in San Diego county to house hack that keeps my personal living expense under $500 but ideally tenant rent would cover the whole mortgage.

My other option is to buy a duplex straight out of college and house hack.

I would like to buy something to house hack in the area but am wondering how I should go about it.

Don’t know which is the right move, I would be willing to house-hack a multiplex but haven’t seen any pop up in the last few months.

I am reading and studying real estate investing for the time I’m still in and feel comfortable jumping right into house hacking once I’m out.

Hey BP community, I’ve been racking my brain about the best ways to finance deals number 2 and 3 of my portfolio and I want to see what you all think.I’m already working on closing my first deal with a low down FHA loan for a house hack where I’ll be living in and breaking even on expenses.

To house-hack and live in a unit myself while the other units paid the mortgage and provided a small amount of cashflow How did you find this deal and how did you negotiate it?

I highly recommend starting out locally by house hacking a 2-4 unit.
