Section 8 does some level of background checks, but I did a deeper look than what section 8 will go into. 

It does not sound like you are moving too fast, just do not make any emotional decisions on your next purchase and stick to your numbers.

I circled back with my husband, and we will dig a bit deeper and focus on one to max 2 areas where we want to invest and find a good agent in this area over bigger pockets.

There is often an inverse relationship between following your emotions and great investments.

Now, that isn't without its exceptions, but the point isn't for you to insist you're one of them.People get emotional in this business and make some extremely poor decisions.

Is it just to be a pain or is there a deeper rooted issue causing some uncertainty.
