So, I should have said that salary expense (outside of COGS) totals about 25% of Operating Income; though total employee cost (including that attributed to COGS) is a somewhat higher percentage of Operating Income, as I have employees do some of the rehab tasks on my projects and I also provide some benefits.

The people who earn more already contribute more literal money, since 25% of 500k is more than 25% of 50k, so why slap them twice by making them pay a higher percentage too?

Btw, the largest expense (by percentage) for most manufacturers in the U.S. is people; if you want to reduce the cost of goods manufactured or created in the U.S., get rid of the minimum wage.Not saying I advocate that (it causes a LOT more problems), but that's essentially what would be necessary to bring manufacturing costs down in the U.S.

Now, if you are truly an independant contractor or an employee and you have done adminstrative support tasks for that Realtor, like taking pictures, setting out signs, filing, etc, they can pay you, but not based on a per centage of a sale.

That means he needed to carry insurance of at least 100% of the building's replacement value or he would only be paid out the percentage of the claim that represent the percentage of the building's replacement cost he insured.
