It's hard to imagine that you are getting a decent return on your time when you need to drive 5 hours to swing a hammer. 

We were in full swing last year and sort of let it fall apart but we have been back into it since January of this year and plan to continue for the foreseeable future! 

Each one has its own culture and governed by different rules.For example, if a state requires that contractors actually take pass a test to get their license, you're going to get a different kind of contractor than states where you can simply pay for a license (like mine), even if you don't know how to swing a hammer.

Also, go to broker's open houses as well, usually mid-week, if you can swing it.  

I live near the beach and I love sleeping in, so anytime swinging hammers or sweating or stressing will only hinder my beach time and my sleeping in time.
