I have hired a handyman that well experienced in this field of mold but the tenant wants me to hire a licensed mold specialist that will cost me 3X more than the handyman that will do the exact same thing.

It is a matter of personal taste,  Study the sub field that excites you the most. 

I know some agents who's lives have been literally been taken ransom by Zillow and I hope this app does something about it or at least levels the playing field.

I am wondering where I should start in the real estate field.

They take jobs in the field of their choice (technology, real estate, retail, etc), learn the business from the inside out, save some startup capital and THEN venture out on their own.The other benefit of this methodology is that if you fail, you're not going to have to flip burgers to pay your rent...you'll still have skills to go back and either try again or rebuild your war-chest for the next venture.

I know there are currently a lot of properties in the area that can be bought and fixed up but I have no experience in that field nor do I have any relationships with contractors.
