@Alex Yost Chimneys are one of the items where I always recommend two quotes for a job (unless you have your "guy", and you obviously don't have your chimney guy yet...

Overall, he did a good job, but there are issues that will show up on an inspection that aren't necessarily liabilities.  

I passed the state test with no problems, I think Raymond does a good job of teaching.

Your lender should have a few contractors they have already approved for 203k jobs, but any competent, insured gc experienced in rehab start/renovations should qualify.

Don't press the contractors to rush, you want a quality job.

I use Jefferson Title in Birmingham to get the job done.

Beware with dealing with this person..He is a thief...goes by various names John, Jack, Osh, Cavalari Common..etc..takes your money and then uses it for other purposes..I have a case opened on him at the Nevada State Contractors Board.

I would spend summers working at job sites so the construction aspect is not foreign to me.I am also a trained CFP, certified financial planner, so the numbers aspect is not confusing.I suppose the main challenge I have is actually buying a house.
