Even with that being said if they are serviced and the tech says you have more life in them and in good working order, I don’t see why you should replace them immediately if you plan to renovate in the next year or two.

The shower issue...over time the valves get hard water build up or the seals break down so the valve doesn't function at 100% anymore...... its in no way a water safety issue....annoying.... but not a threat to the safety of the unit...Microwave....gonna cost you more for a "$20 temporary one" and then having a tech look at the original and then replace the glass.... then just replacing it.

We brought out an hvac tech out for an inspection and they quoted in their inspection nothing in regards to the limit/safety switch being bypassed or any hazards related to this.
