Stephen,I am not sure with Connecticut but in PA i believe the Parent LLC is not recognized as a separate entity. in other words if one of the llc's gets sued and they find that a Parent LLC owns it, i believe they can reach through that llc to any other LLC you own, you are best to check with an Attorney on that.

Your idea fixes that by passing interest into the LLC to get deductibility, but then I'd have to recognize the interest income on my personal taxes which negates the benefit. #1 would be the best possible scenario.
