If I were you, I would definitely switch to a company who can at least keep you in the loop. 

Lots of the known companies such as CHUBB, Cincinnati and others are using their E&S companies that aren’t regulated but the state to offer coverages where they can.  

It sounds like you bring a ton of value to the platform given your past experience.As far as where to start, that is difficult to answer without knowing more about what you're looking to accomplish and how hands on/off you intend on being with your investments.Turn-key companies have tremendous appeal given the fact that they target below-market value properties, handle property management and project management.

CFRI is a great place to meet and network with other local investors, trades and also get some education along the way.

I pay a management company 35% to do it all.

For example Boxabl is a cool company, Worthy Bonds has been around a while, Phoenix Capital invests in gas (just to name a few).

Is your "insurance guy" a captive agent (one company) or independent (able to shop around)?

Andrew and his company are incredibly UNPROFESSIONAL and I would recommend STAYING AWAY from him and his company. 

I'm like @Craig De Borba, don't know about Phill Grove or his company, but a few years ago I went to a "seminar" from Than Merrill and it was the same thing...

I would think more so if you are buying out of state... it will be very time consuming to have to go search for all your trades and services.
