I think we may have paid a little more but overall the house is nice with nice finishes.

But I don't think you necessarily have to shift away from the handwritten format.I believe that the hand written letter continues to add to that personal touch and gets the point across that you are an actual person and not some big company.

You may need to read NJ landlord/tenant laws to check required notice times for entry into units (I think my state is now 72 hours' notice). 

I think it is just a great way to end a friendship.
