My only caveat would be none of us know their personal situation.  

However, tax matters can be tricky, and your situation might have other factors.

All, My partner and I are in early in the process of buying a property with multiple, 13, duplexes on it.

It is all situation dependent.

Here's what I decided to do: I explained the situation to my new tenant and asked which option was better for her; self-install it for me, or have me send someone to do it. 

That will provide you with confidence knowing there are no taxes owned or unpaid liens.I have worked with Lucia Rushton in DFW multiple times who can great agent and it is well worth using her to avoid painful mistakes! 

Whether to rent the property or flip it is solely based on your long term plan and situation.

This is a delicate situation and I want this to be as smooth as possible, having them vacate the property is a last resort option.
