He thinks it might have been used for smuggling at one time.The USA had a period in its history where the ugly thing called slavery happened; the tunnel might have been for the use of slaves escaping to freedom in the northern states. 

As my brother said we manage this particular property and have for the past year and a half. 

This happened to my brother when he was buying his first home, everything is a learning experience.

It's vacant, but my brother in law put appliances in and did their wash. 

First be aware of your surroundings, people nearby, your possible escape routes etc.

In my case, I invested into a 3-way LLC with my brother and father, each 1/3 ownership.

Mountain View has been great for buy and hold and cash flow but it is way too expensive for me now.The properties I purchased last year were held by an older brother/sister team from over seas, Philippines to be exact. 

All RE contracts have escape clauses.  

I just spoke with a member of my REIA who shared with me how they narrowly escaped losing money on a deal as a result of a wrong exit strategy.
