It is "easier" in some ways to get the portfolio money, in terms of lower documentation and not having your properties encumbered in your name, etc., but there are trade-offs, too.

Do think a local turnkey provider that manages its properties in-house does have some advantages in terms of local knowledge and expertise.  

I have noticed some shifting in terms of doors becoming misaligned a bit but nothing major, and I also see a small part of the wall in the living room that is kind of chipping off.

These are also likely C class areas which happen to be least impacted (in terms of vacancy rate) during times of recession compared to the higher classes.
