All clothes need to be washed and dried on hot & bagged up, furniture checked, clutter eliminated etc... the thought of trying to get 12 different families who have enough trouble understanding me as it is to coordinate all this gives me a migraine. 

Most of those chemicals dry pretty fast, and if it was going to peel it probably would have done so already.

as for insects, litter the place with diatomaceous earth (makes the most sense between tenants, but can be used around humans and pets)worse problem with much contact is dry skin/rash.the powder is crushed diatomes (creature shells, chemically silica-ish) in effect it's micro shards of glass which wedge in the crevices of the exoskeletons. so bugs eventually get clumped up with the stuff and can't move. and sometime pierces the innards. so either way they die.it's organic, non toxic. just don't wallow in it, and don't let kids/pets play in it.

And ask them to leave all traps and leave the powder dry and in place.

one of them flushed a shampoo bottle down the toilet but they paid for that. honestly besides girlfriends/boyfriends sleeping over more than my contract allows, no other big issues.

Short term when we have had wells run dry we have run a hose from another home but it is likely too cold where you are. some places you can get water delivery. 

The roof trusses if not inundated with dry rot and termite damage may also have lots of truss fractures caused by tradesmen not knowing where or how to walk on it or by falling branches and wind driven rain issues.Particle board sub flooring is held together with Elmers Glue.
