How do you normally collect your assignment fee with lease options if you're operating in different markets?

We are looking to operate here in Denver and then eventually do some deals in my hometown in Texas.We just found this site this week on YouTube and after the webinar last night, decided that this is an excellent place for us to learn about the business and network with some excellent people.

As an operator, DIY labor can not be deducted ( irs says your time is worthless ), whereas the entire invoice (parts+labor) are deductable.

Generally speaking though, most states require a person doing business to either; open a new business or register their own business, unless they are operating under certain types of organizational structures.

I'd take my wholesale fee on this and invest/ operate in my backyard.  

If you have multiple members, your operating agreement should address issues similar to this.  

I don't know a lot about their operation or their pricing but I have worked with a very good fix and flip investor that was one of their speakers, I've used some of their deal analysis tools and I attended a day of one of their seminars as the realtor who opened doors on the tour bus.The info they shared prior to our tour was good info, especially to someone that was new. 

He was a broker licensed in over 20 states, owned an Auction company, co-authored a real estate branding book, and operated a successful general contracting business.

Not identical but should be pretty analogous...I have my law firm incorporated and operating as an LLC.
