The whole idea came up when I paid my rent and the agent said - why don't you buy instead - you can get get a house for the same price.

As far as the HOA board, I like the idea of community members being part of the board.

Joining a local real estate group on Facebook isn't a bad idea, so that you could ask other investors their recommendations.
