If it is some type of fraud allegation onto the originators or other agents responsible for the closing and funding of the loan he may be pursuing or investigating an alternative litigation strategy which he should explain to you for your agreement to pursue.  

Only think would be I would look for a property that would allow an alternative exit startegy as a plan B.

You never know who people have sought advice from, including internet forms.Liability; a ruthless type losing a home could very easily claim that you were responsible for delaying them from seeking other alternatives if you fail to buy and close.

I have other interview techniques for ferreting out PIAs.I've determined:  The number 1 indicator of a candidate to being a long term success, is if they have a bank account with more than $3k in it.  90% of applicants don;t even have the move in 2 x rent in hand.  

Thus, it's two entities w/ two distinct purposes and thus two distinct alternative investment accounts.  

An alternative for me would be to contribute to the SEP then lend that money to other investors as a passive private lender.
