I attended one class where they teach how to be on the edge of broke so that you pay no taxes; it didn't seem like a desired target to me. 

They also have a great meetup worth attending. 

I've been listening to the podcast, attending webinars, reading books, and just signed up for a couple of events in the Chicago area.

If any of them have no idea what you're talking about or say it's illegal, just thank them for their time and call another.Also, start attending local meetups and REIA meetings, and start talking to people wholesaling in your area.

You should attend the next Regular Board meeting (they are required to mail or post notice of when/where that will be), and ask questions about how the rules in general are supposed to be enforced.

I got my start in real estate by attending all the local meetups I could find.  

I recommend joining Facebook groups and attending networking events in your area with like minded individuals to build your knowledge and network.
