Not just for the reasons stated herein, but to check for violations of Fair Housing stuff contained in the leases, in addition to ensuring there are no "lease options" or "rent to own" agreements in place - if that contract was signed prior to your purchase contract, a court might say it takes precedence and you have to honor it, including the sales price specified therein!
