The professionals who come in will usually spray, which can be effective when done correctly, but also may not be healthy for a baby.

With all due respect, anyones opinion or how they're hedging should be taken with a grain of salt and that includes mine.  

It sounds like the shelving you are trying to paint aould be nearly impossible to paint any other way but spraying so it sounds like you're stuck. 

One person covered an entire wall with a tiger spray-paint mural.

@Greggory Kowalkowski I had this same exact scenario in one of my units...property is from 1880.We did the old fashioned method in 75% of the unit which was spraying chemicals and scraping down to the horse hair plaster.

Also bought a rolling scoring tool + some kind of wp removal spray that seemed to work decently as well.

@Matt Millard I agree in most cases I take what the FED says with a grain of salt.

In other words, dogs still poop on the lawn and bark, pigs still give off an odor, and cats still spray on walls.

Some municipalities require that even the sidewalk by your house be cleared of snow, salted, etc.
