@Aditya SomaSide-by-side / side-by-each / townhouse duplexes and triplexes lend themselves to fewer noise (footfall) complaints than over-under / stacked properties as Christian pointed out.Another point to consider is that side-by-side, common wall properties are more likely to have been purpose built as a multifamily property in contrast to over-under units which are frequently the result of conversions - which has been the fate of many grand old Second Empire, Queen Anne, and Victorian houses down here on the East Coast.Purpose-built duplexes and triplexes are apt to have better sound and fire barriers between units (taking the age of the building into consideration) than some conversion done 75-yrs ago before there were any *real* building codes.

The cool part of it was the location: it was during my job on cruise ships, so I'd step off the ship wherever I was and go running through the grid of Key West, along Grand Cayman's 7-mile beach, through a fishing village near Mahajual in the Yucatan Peninsula...

not sure if that is technically probate or not --i bought one house out of probate auction last year, but don't understand the exact legal definition of probate most likely...so there's the run down: house being demolished in 6 weeks when city will slap a huge lien on property, back mortgage payments, back taxes, and also other misc. city liens that add up to a few grand as well....as you can see, i don't think this is a case where the daughters are profitting much, and they seem like they want to sell..we just want to make sure we don't endanger their medicaid..thanks!
