My parents live in an RV and travel around the country, building and remodeling churches.

Hi @Ken T.I'm in the Calgary area, and though I haven't personally invested in BC, my parents own 2 rentals there, and after hearing about some of the nightmares they've been through, I've decided I absolutely will not invest in BC, and here's why:- All of BC is rent-controlled in how much % you can increase the rent every year.

My parents retired and have been living comfortably on 4 paid off SFHs for the past 20 years! 

My parents have used the same tax guy for years and this is my first time filing independently from them.I was under the impression that I could write off items/tools purchased to rehab my duplex I’m house hacking, but I am being told otherwise.Can anyone shed some light on this for a tax newbie?
