On this first property I just did non-toxic paint, called ecos throughout, tried to pick low-voc adhesives etc. refinished existing floors, used some materials that my dad had left over from commercial projects, and went to a place called Community Warehouse downtown, which has a lot of excess building materials that have been donated.

I am one of 3 siblings and our parents have a home nearly paid off.  

Therapy - Think you need to show "tough love".I know I'm old, but I wanted to get my a$$ out of parent's house as soon as I could.  

It is also important to find out if parents are required to guarantee the leases.You may find current higher cap rates/returns with student housing, but they are a higher risk than a 'normal' apartment complex.

The next day I called him back, after a discussion with my parents who had agreed to finance the deal for me, prepared to make an offer and he told me it was under contract again About a month later my Realtor called me again to tell me the duplex was back on the market and he’d spoken with the listing agent and the foundation needed $75,000 worth of work and he could get me a copy of the home inspection.

My parent's aren't an option as co-signers.

Hi Folks,My parents have owned property in NYC.

One of the big things I was seeing was the parents were the ones paying the lease. 

The wife passed last March but didn’t have any relatives listed other then where her parents and husband passed before her.
