I am confused on how to actually go to a foreclosure auction and how that works. 

On mls and being sent to auction.

Stay active on here, talk to agents, attend REI events, go to auctions, etc. 

I found a great house on auction coming up in September.

For my next deal I am looking at foreclosure auctions as well, now the I am more comfortable with the process, but this one came from the MLS.
