Upstate NY has some cheap houses but high taxes, hard to make the numbers work.Here are some negatives I would be wary about:- High property taxes or tax increases coming down the pipe (like Chicago)- Increasing unemployment- Bad school districts- Confusing / inhospitable zoning- Declining tax base (ie middle-class people are leaving, not coming back)You want to become the self-fulfilling prophecy for a market in which you invest.
