On the coast of Lake Michigan, so absolutely gorgeous during the summer & still a sizable economy during the winter months to keep some people coming (However, you will not have the traffic you do during the summer months).

Those people really don't want to haul their RV's and Boats back to Detroit on a Sunday traffic jam. 

Pick a road crossway, that either has an overpass or crosslight if heavy traffic.

I am not very familiar with the neighborhoods (usually deal with South Tampa and the heights areas), although after driving it, it seems pretty nice, very quiet (no thru traffic at all), and there are quite a few larger homes.

From an infrastructure standpoint it lessens the load of the highway traffic allowing locals to commute with more ease.
