I lost over 500k in my personal investing journey because I chased the wrong things to save money on taxes and ended up getting scammed.

At least for those who aren't forensic accountants.IMO there isn't one silver bullet red flag that is the end-all-be-all of "here's what to look for to catch a scam."

So this is my first post on the diaries and i thought i would start it with this property since it is one that i unfortunately have to do full permits on because of the location and the city inspectors have been watching it like a hawk waiting for some unsuspecting investor to buy it so that they can pounce on them.Freddie Mac home near Tacoma WA.Before stats:  4 Bed 2 Bath 1,537 Sqft with an Un-Finished 1041 sq/ft basement and 2 car detached garage, also includes a large pain in the butt 3 story chimney (basement to second floor).Post Rehab: Will be a 5 bed 3.5 Bath 2,578 Sqft home. 

I was scammed by the former marketing director of a REIA.

At least that guy had only gotten scammed out of his own money instead of putting a clients money at risk.

Is this the new scam or another aspect of wholesaling the YouTube gurus forgot to mention?!?

Should I call about it or should I just assume it's some kind of scam?

Then again, would that have stopped this scam from happening? 

It most definitely is not, and is the Real Estate World's version of the "Online Freelance Writer" fad / joke / scam...
