But if the market rents for long term rentals don't support the returns you would like to see then I think exploring things like traveling nurse or furnished rentals are worth considering.

I have found most of these takes elitist and dismissive, but I recently read an article, The Rise of The California Back House House Hacker claiming that our community at BiggerPockets and the subsequent reddit forums are having a similar impact on the real estate market. 

The Mayor of Key West was in an article a few weeks ago warning that they do not have the Money to raise the roads and repair the damages.
