We lived in it as a single family residence and over the years of things that looked like they had been renovated started failing… we realized the owner before seemed to have a slap it together cheaply himself mentality.

I have since come across a lot of bad reviews with this company with the majority of the people giving the reviews claiming that they are scammers which is why I'm bringing it here to see if there is anyone else who has had any experience with them whether it's been good or bad. 

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good contractor who can remove the tree roots underneath my driveway and repave the concrete?

The KEY AT THIS POINT IS ESTABLISHING COMMUNICATION with the tenant because a great option could be cash for keys as @Sean McKee mentioned, but you can't do that without having a conversation.During these challenging times I try to remind myself that the tenant is obviously going through some seriously challenging times and no matter what landlord problems are still "good problems" to have...
