Pumping a septic, not so bad maybe $200.Lot paid, mobile unpaid, seen that maybe a hundred times, no big deal except for newbie.Roof off, I saw a house with the 3 story back wall missing, somebody bought at tax sale, obviously did look at back of house, there were actually multiple bidders.Abandoned railroad tracks, much better than non-abandoned railroad tracks.Any industrial property is potential hazardous waste site, chrome factory, heavy metals, paint factory, auto body paint shop or repair shop, auto junk yard, salvage yard, etc all bad news.

Heading south, we looked at investing in Holland, it's a great area with the state park, Dutch village, and tulip festivals.  2 reasons we didn't invest there:  the beach and downtown area are not near each other and we wanted to be closer to the Chicago area.
